More than 80 of the world's foremost experts provide a definitive account of the biology of the pancreas and the pathobiology, diagnosis, and medical and surgical treatment of all pancreatic diseases. A separate section on endocrine and exocrine pancreatic relationships--including a chapter on pancreas and islet transplantation--has been added to the Second Edition; and the section on neoplasms now includes a chapter on surgery for endocrine tumors of the pancreas. Other new chapters describe recently developed experimental models for acute pancreatitis. Chapters from the original edition have been rewritten for the Second Edition, in many cases with the collaboration of new contributing authors.
