Fragen nach ihrer Größe, Natur und Bevölkerung, Produktionsfähigkeit und bisherigen Geschichte treten vielfach an den gebildeten Deutschen heran und es ist mein Streben gewesen, solche für die größte dieser Inselgruppen durch die vorliegende Abhandlung zum Teil zu beantworten.
