Designed to help English as a Second Language (ESL) students prepare for the Alternate Regent's Writing Test. Most students have similar sets of questions about the test and this book addresses those questions. It also includes test directions, rating guidelines, editing suggestions, sample tests and an actual test booklet for practice. The book provides clear, but broad grammar explanation in the areas that seem in particular to cause confusion. The exercises that follow these explanations include practice at both the sentence and paragraph levels. Individual students can use the guidebook as a self-study text by using the answer key. It is also useful in tutoring labs, particularly in institutions with few ESL students and few resources for them.
