DELIGHTING IN GOD'S LAW In this book I present 30 studies on Psalms 1, 19 and 119. These psalms highlight how God's law guides us as God followers throughout our life's journey. Psalm 1 is an anonymous psalmist's observation on two types of persons. One type is a mocker who scoffs at God's law, while living a lifestyle that boasts that God's law does not apply to the way they live. The other type embraces God's law in all its aspects, while living a lifestyle that affirms their delight in God's precepts and commands. At the close of this earthly life, the lifestyle that each type has lived does matter, for God knows both, and he determines the final judgment concerning each one's continuing existence on into eternity. Psalm 19 is King David's testimony that the very heavens (God's visible law in the skies!) declare God's glory. David also affirms that God's written law gives wisdom to those who fear the Lord, and makes their hearts rejoice. Psalm 119 is an anonymous psalmist's meditation upon God's written law, from which you and I can discover the standard by which we can know and walk in God's will. This psalmist prays that God will open our spiritual eyes so that we may see the wonderful things found in his law. We learn that God reveals to each of us individually his will and as we walk in his way we will find delight in his commands.
