What's the core reason that makes Krishna district the hub of Andhra Pradesh politics? What have been the trends since independence that make Krishna district essential to winning elections in Andhra Pradesh? This thought has intrigued me since my childhood, and one day I decided to channel my ideas into reality by digging deep into the grassroots of Krishna district politics. It has been one of the hotspots of Andhra Pradesh politics since the start of India's independence. There are presently 16 constituencies in the Krishna district. The people of the Krishna district have been very active in the state's politics, and it is one of the main reasons some of the top political positions in the state government are held by politicians residing from the Krishna district. In the current cabinet, there are three ministers from the district. Kodali Sri Venkateswara Rao (Kodali Nani) Minister for Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, P. Venkataramaiah (Perni Nani) Minister of Transport and I&PR and Vellampalli Srinivas Endowments Minister. But do you remember who the 10th Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh was? Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao, also known as NTR. He was the leader that ended the inept and corrupt rule of the Indian National Congress in the Andhra Pradesh state for the first time since independence in 1983. Do you know which district he belongs to? You guessed it right, Krishna district. NTR became MLA from Gudivada, he won from another assembly constituency Tirupati as well. On 9th January 1983, with a team of ten cabinet ministers, he became the CM of Andhra Pradesh. One incident even caused a 40 days curfew imposed in Vijayawada, one of the key constituencies under the Krishna district. Want to know the reason behind the incident? The assassination of one of the famous Kapu/Congress leaders - Vangavetti Mohana Ranga, who represented Vijayawada East
