Many war stories have been written and many movies produced about World War II as reported by generals and admirals. But for a reader who wants to hear it from an enlisted man's perspective, read on and be spellbound till the very end. The author witnessed every encounter reported since he was the helmsman on the bridge with the captain and navigator. The sailing across the blue Pacific, as romantic as it sounds, was told with every detail of sailing seasick to encountering an enemy submarine determined to torpedo them. The story ends when the USS Indianapolis, which just delivered the ATOM bomb to Tinian Island, which was dropped on Japan, was torpedoed instead of his destroyer. It lost seamen in the last days of the war. Finally, the men on his ship witnessed a most gruesome event when enemy planes appeared and a sailor rushing to get aboard his ship was caught between two vessels and cut in half. The story ends with a very forceful cry by the author: PLEASE, GOD, DON'T EVER ALLOW ANOTHER WORLD WAR
