Abstract: "Remote procedure call (RPC) is a useful paradigm for building distributed systems. Many RPC systems have been developed around the world. They address various design and implementation issues of RPC and demonstrate many similarities and differences in handling them. In this report, such issues are discussed and how they are handled by different RPC systems is examined in some detail. Comparisons of various approaches to these issues are also presented."
