Beth, Diane and Lyn are sisters, all beautiful and accomplished women. Although their mother Ellie had loved them all equally well and had raised them as best she could, somehow she had managed to alienate all of them, in varying degrees, once they were grown. The sisters had been close as children and had enjoyed this closeness until they'd become adults. But Beth's choice of a husband and the events of one night shatter their relations and the three drift apart. Towards the end of her life, Ellie, now widowed, can know no rest until she finds a way to repair her relations with her daughters whom she'd never stopped loving. Finally admitting to herself that she'd also caused the rift among her daughters to deepen, she feels compelled to bring about their reconciliation. Sadly, Ellie passes away before she accomplishes her goals. Without her, will her daughters be able to find their way back to each other? To become 'true' sisters again?
