A young heiress flees an unwanted betrothal, only to find herself entangled with the very earl she wronged. Eliza Crenshawe's holiday lesson from Mrs. Charlotte Harris is to look before she leaps, but when she discovers her guardian's plan to marry her off quickly, she abandons all caution. She escapes on a stolen horse, inadvertently taking it from Colin Hunt, a new earl who finds himself drawn to the spirited woman. Colin desires Eliza to return home, but he may also wish for her to stay forever, complicating her flight and her future.

This anthology brings together multiple romance authors within Sabrina Jeffries' established "School for Heiresses" series, focusing on holiday-themed lessons for the young ladies. The collection offers distinct stories from each author, with Jeffries' own contribution, "Ten Reasons to Stay," centering on Eliza Crenshawe's impulsive flight from an arranged marriage and her subsequent entanglement with Earl Colin Hunt. The premise suggests a blend of historical romance tropes with festive elements, appealing to fans of the series and holiday-themed historical fiction. The inclusion of other popular authors like Liz Carlyle, Julia London, and Renee Bernard indicates a curated collection designed to offer varied romantic narratives within a shared setting.
