
Commercial Law is a branch of law which deals with the provisions applicable to the ordinary transactions, bankers and traders; the law which relates to the rights of property and relations of persons engaged in commerce. The Indian Commercial Law is an adaption of the British Law with some reservations and modifications necessitated by the particular conditions in India. The contents of the subject have been divided into three parts; viz. General Principles of Law of Contract, Special Contracts and Contracts/Laws specially included to meet the syllabus requirements of certain universities. The book explains in detail the law, principles and procedures relating to the various aspects of Commercial Law in India. The exposition of the subject is simple and direct to the extent possible. The emphasis has been more on explaining the fundamental and basic concepts. In short, the book presents the subject from the composite view point of the students, the business community and the practioners.
