The extracts are so well chosen, Mr. Sisam's work is so well done, his apparatus sets his texts so rightly on their background of French and Latin, he helps his reader so intelligently and judiciously, that he has made within an unambitious scope a positive contribution to the understanding and enjoyment of Middle English writing.
