The United States has a long history of launching amphibious, or sea-going, assaults on enemy beaches, including the famous D-Day Invasion in World War II. In addition, to such large-scale operations, in recent decades the military has developed and unleashed smaller scale operations carried out by units of special operations forces. These include raids on enemy ships and naval and other key military installations. Among the commandos who perform these dangerous missions are the famous Navy SEALs, and the less familiar but no less tough and talented SWCCs(Special Warfare Combatant-craft Crewmen). All of them are trained not only to fight fiercely but also to survive indefinitely when stranded at sea.
