The GED 2014 was developed to update the High School Equivalency Test to current high school standards. It is a trademarked test owned by Prentice-Hall. Another test, the HiSET, is also available as a possible high school equivalency. Although the two tests are equivalent, they do have some differences. It is helpful to plan for the test your state supports with the correct textbook. This text uses much of the material I wrote for my HiSET Math + book, but it also has GED specific material. It concentrates mainly on math because most of my former students told me that was what they needed when they came to me. Math tends to be the subject they most struggled with in school or most quickly forgot in the years between. I do go into some detail about the essay portion of the test as well. The recognized standards of all the subjects are included to give you a good idea of what can be expected on the test. I loved teaching adult education. GED Math Plus, HiSET Math + and Mostly Math (written for TASC) have been a labor of love since the day I retired. I hope that they help provide a guide for those studying for and teaching the GED, HiSET or TASC. Let me know about your successes! And for more in-depth math, look for my High School Equivalency Tasks for Adults series of books.
