We "Baby Boomers," this nation's largest generation in history, are moving into retirement. And many of us are opting to continue pursuing active learning and recreational activities while also exploring new ventures--like acting. Finding intelligent, entertaining plays for older actors, though, can be a frustrating task. Too many offer "zany hi-jinks at the old folks home," complete with casts of doddering stereotypes of older people. The twelve scenes found in Carrying On...and On: Scenes for Senior Actors feature bright, vibrant, and interesting residents at Carey Village, an upscale senior living facility located on the campus of a small college in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. First performed at Brandeis University's Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, these scenes provide light, humorous, and sometimes poignant views of what it means to "age well" in our society today. (In this non-royalty set of scenes, casting is flexible; staging, prop and costume needs are simple.)
