Grangers.--Patrons of Husbandry was first started in Columbia, 1873, R. P. Ledbetter, Master. Within the next year 20 Granges, with a membership of 1,500, had been organized in Maury Co. The objects of this order are to promote the social, intellectual, and material prosperity of the family and farm. Its financial motto is: "Pay as you go, shun debts, and avoid lawsuits." Patriotic and other organizations. The soldiers of the Confederacy, in memory of the fallen brave and to promote comradeship, have organized camps and bivouacs throughout the South. The one at Columbia is a consolidation of Wm. Henry Trousdale Camp and Leonidas Polk Bivouac, having about 200 members. It meets at 11 A.M. the first Monday in each month at the courthouse, as the country members are then in the city to the monthly stock sale. Officers for 1905...
