Watertown has had an arsenal of poets and literary types for many years, but what makes this second annual Arts Market repertoire lively and innovative are all the local writers who came together here for the first time in 2021, and who, in 2022 have enlisted still others to their ranks.
Calling themselves, "The Lit Squad," as a nod to both the Arsenal history and to grassroots liter- ary movements, a writers’ exhibition space was obtained and organized by Elizabeth Rodgers and Monica Fairbairn to promote and foster the word-arts at the first Watertown Arts Market at Arsenal Park. Along with a sales table for local writers’ books and a platform of featured and open mic readings during the Market, we have assembled this second annual sampler of writings.
We continue to invite Watertown creative writers, in any language (with English translation), at any stage of career, to contribute two pages page of their work, to be presented together in alpha- betical order by author and without editorial interference. We continue to celebrate and present Watertown writers, inspired by each other, by our our diverse identities, traditions, and talents, and by the remarkable community we share.
This year we offer new samples by writers included last year as well as welcoming memoirist Jen Trynin, novelist and essayist Eileen Pollack, non-fiction writer Rebecca Falkoff, and poet Patricia Geller to our pages. Our sampler’s content grows. May still others join us for 2023.
Explore, enjoy, celebrate, and help spread the words! And meanwhile join and follow our Water- town Lit Squad Facebook group (https://www.facebook.com/groups/3095356294122051).
