St. Therese of Lisieux, affectionately known as "The Little Flower of Jesus," was born Marie-Françoise-Thérèse Martin on January 2, 1873, in Alençon, France. From a young age, she displayed an extraordinary love for God and a deep desire to serve Him. After overcoming personal trials, including the early loss of her mother and a period of emotional struggles, Therese felt called to join the Carmelite convent at Lisieux. Simplicity: She sought God in the ordinary, believing that every moment could be an act of love and devotion. Love: Her life was a testament to love—loving God unconditionally and reflecting that love in her relationships with others. Perseverance: Despite physical suffering and spiritual trials, she remained steadfast in her faith and trust in God. Trust in God: Therese's unwavering confidence in God's plan and providence became the cornerstone of her spirituality. In 1925, Pope Pius XI canonized St. Therese, recognizing her as a model of holiness for all. She was later declared a Doctor of the Church in 1997 by Pope John Paul II, an honor given to only a few saints for their significant contribution to theology and spirituality.
