The Giles Family have organically farmed Chickenshit for generations, possibly going back to Roman times. In all that time they have never paid a penny in tax. Income tax investigator Jane Probert is assigned to get them to pay up. As her researches go on she finds herself drawm more and more into the troubled lives of the farmer's family and the many people who have found a home around fhe farm until a death and a birth intervene and change everything. The book contains men, women, children, cars, policement, judges and assorted animals, none of whom was in any way hurt or damaged in its making.
