Author Description

Water is a pervasive and essential element in natural and human landscapes and its control and management is a central concern for environmental managers and scientists. The aim of this book is to examine, from a range of perspectives and with a variety of examples, the role played by water management in the environment. The scale of investigation varies from the continental to the local, the historical framework from the ancient to the contemporary, the approach from the scientific to the literary, but the contributors, seek to bridge the traditional gulf between "human" and "environmental" approaches and to produce an integrated view of the relation between technology, culture and natural resources.
