Ibn al-Qayyim said: "So whatever has passed you by, you amend by repentance, and you correct what has yet to come with restraint and (firm) resolution and intention¿ There is due from the servant, in every moment of his time, servitude to (All¿h) which will advance him or bring him nearer to All¿h. So if he spends his time in servitude to All¿h, he will advance to his Lord, and if he busies himself with desires, relaxation or inactivity, he will lag behind. And the servant never ceases to be either moving forward or falling behind, and there is no stopping whilst on the path, ever."
