This report analyzes the powers and responsibilities of the Greater London Authority and its potential for improving health. It also explores the experiences of other cities in Europe, North America and the UK. It outlines the different ways in which other mayors and city-wide authorities have worked to effect change, and analyzes lessons that may be learned for the new Mayor of London and the Greater London Authority.
