In a Southern North Carolina coastal town, modern-day, misguided boaters remove a jewel pouch and a small treasure-chest locket from a skeleton beneath the Cape Fear River. Unknowingly, they released the dreaded pirate, Blackbeard, who seeks the return of his treasure - and his ship!
