<p>A norm-referenced communication assessment tool, EMCS focuses specifically on measuring young children's motor control and identifying impairments that may lead to a speech delay or disorder. Developed for use with children between 8 and 24 months of age, this concise assessment can also be used with children up to 72 months of age who exhibit atypical speech, motor, or cognitive development. Speech-language pathologists and early interventionists can use the motor control profile generated by EMCS to guide additional communication assessment, plan intervention goals, and chart changes over time.</p> <p>EMCS is straightforward and easy to use. Professionals conduct a 15- to 20-minute Behavior Sample, a face-to-face evaluation. After a brief warm-up, professionals sample behavior across a variety of contexts using familiar play materials and books.
