Product Description Contagious bovine pleuropneumonia (CBPP) is a well-known scourge of cattle in Africa and elsewhere. On entering previously uninfected populations, it often causes an explosive epidemic with a high mortality. In endemic situations, the disease is known for its insidious spread and debilitating effects on production. The difficulties experienced in diagnosing and combating the disease make it all the more to be feared. The fact that CBPP is currently experiencing a resurgence in Africa has prompted FAO to produce this booklet as a means of assisting those dealing with the disease to recognize it, make a proper diagnosis and take appropriate action to curtail its spread.
