Lee Zinck was born in 1907 in Blandford, one of Nova Scotia's most charming seaside villages. His varied career touched on virtually every one of Nova Scotia's main industries. He has been, among other things, a fisherman, farmer, lumberjack and stevedore. He faithfully chronicles the story of lice-infested lumber camps, the dangerous life of the fisherman, the political patronage, the poverty of the depression and the joys and sorrows of living through three generations in this community. Both entertaining reading and a political, economic and sociological study of a small settlement, this book is a treasure which has universal appeal.
