Excerpt from The Duke Floral Gardens: Fall of 1926 The roses we offer are strictly field grown and on own roots, and of such varieties as are best suited to this section of South for gardenculture. They are full of vitality. And free from disease. Our roses are grown from cuttings in open ground, without water and without protection of any kind. They are sturdy, vigorous and disease resistant. We offer only one year roses, but please don't confuse them with those tender hot house plants, sent out by orists and nurserymen. These plants are from one to four feet high, well branched with vigorous root system. A trial order will convince you that we send out only high grade stock, the kind that grow and bloom, making for us satisfied enthusiastic customers and friends. Price of all roses, if delivered at nursery, per dozen. Less than one dozen strictly soc each. If sent by parcel post, add soc per dozen. For one-half dozen or less add 25c for packing and postage.
