Excerpt from A. H. Heberle Nurseries, 1924 If possible, remove the trees from the box at once on arrival and heel them in securely in the garden. I mean by this, give them a temporary planting in a trench, Which prevents the roots or branches from drying. If they cannot be removed from the box at once and the packing material gives evidence of being at all dry, apply water to both ends of the box, Where the roots are located, keep ing the box meanwhile in as cool a place as possible. A cool cellar is a good place to keep the box' of trees waiting for the day of planting. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
