Excerpt from Second Report of the Executive Committee of the Boston Children's Aid Society, From June, 1865, to June, 1866 There are some facts of interest that have been developed the past year, for which we were hardly prepared, or rather upon which we did not count. One is, that the boys seem to be inspired with a strong love of country and farm life, to such an extent that they almost, without exception, dislike to return to the city, and greatly prefer to go to homes provided for them in the country. Some interesting fa'cts to prove this could be stated. We venture to give extracts from a few letters out of many we have received from the boys that have been placed in permanent homes; it Shows, at least, a marked contrast to their former lives.
