Sara and her husband Jack, an ex-cop, had bought a log cabin in the Canadian wilderness and had worked hard to turn it into a successful inn. However, their happy life at Peppermint Creek Inn ends tragically when someone creeps up to their isolated home and shoots Jack in the head. Crippled by survivor's guilt, Sara remains alone at the inn - until, one stormy night, a desperate and injured fugitive forces his way into her home and straight into her wounded heart.
