The artifact's disappearance coincides with the impending arrival of an ancient vampire, adding urgency and a layer of political intrigue to their investigation. The Elders of Penglai have requested their aid, but the island's inhabitants—a mix of ancient vampires, their immortal offspring, and human servants—are not forthcoming with information.
