The First Crack The first time I saw it; I thought it was my imagination. Something small and dark in the corner of the kitchen. Still. Watching me. But when I moved, it moved too. Fast. Alive. The apartment fell silent. No sounds from outside, no neighbors-only the faint hum of the light and the ticking of the clock. Nothing else appeared. No movement. No sign. Until I heard the sound on the wall. A dry, muffled noise. Like something small... crawling. Now, up close, I see the paint is no longer smooth. There are tiny cracks.
