Brandt’s parents were executed for crossing the border into Ratham. Ever since then, Brandt has been hidden away in an orphanage in Ratham, but if the ever discovered he’s the wrong race living in Ratham, Brandt would meet the same end as his parents. When the moons above his planet break their alliance with the two counties, there is nothing to prevent war between Ratham and Brandt’s people, and Brandt is sent to his homeland to fight in the army. The next thing he knows, he’s aiming guns at friends and being ordered to pull the trigger. Brandt learns that the magical Mesoni people secretly living in Ratham may have the power to stop the war. Reunited with old friends, Brandt goes deep into the heart of Ratham to search for the Mesoni. His quest is filled with danger. If he can’t find the Mesoni, he may never see the end of the war. And if he’s caught in Ratham, he’ll face the firing squad.
