Cabbage requires a deep, rich soil, high manuring and good culture, in order to obtain fine solid heads. For early use sow seeds of the early kinds in a hotbed or in a box in the house the last of January or early in February, and transplant them in open ground in April in rows two feet apart and eighteen inches between the plants in the row.
