Issue #44 of befores & afters magazine covers the visual effects of TRON: Ares. Industrial Light & Magic took on the lionshare of the visual effects for the film, supported by Distillery VFX, Image Engine, GMUNK, Lola Visual Effects, OPSIS, Imaginary Forces and Prologue. Proof handled previsualization. ILM StageCraft was used for several scenes to shoot inside an LED volume. The issue covers the ‘3D printed’ programs, their derez’ing and time outs, the light cycles, various Grids, and the Super Recognizer attack. It also explores the design language of the holograms, HUDs and user interface graphics that populate the world of TRON: Ares.
