"Air Conditioning is a graphic novel. However, not exactly as the script dictates. Because if over time the mixture of text and image in a sequential narrative has consolidated its constitutive systems, from the balloons and comic strips of comics, through expressive typography to the syntax of text as captions for images, this does not mean that there were no other alternatives, other systems of articulation of the two languages whose result could also be called a 'graphic novel.' Air Conditioning is, therefore, a graphic novel. In seeking new possibilities for combining visual and written language to tell a story, it also finds new possibilities for the composition of the work, as well as new possibilities for reading. And, by limiting the textual content to the silhouettes of Leo, Nilson and the other characters -- making what each one thinks or feels invisible and impervious to the others -- it ends up composing a suffocating parable about our loneliness." --
