“Teachers are Leaders” is a guidebook to assist young and veteran teachers as they refine their craft. Teaching is one of the most difficult professions that a person can pursue, and it takes a lifetime to master. Teachers are special people, and it is the hope that some suggestions in this book will make a difference for you and your students.
Teachers were once well-respected and highly valued members of their local community. While that is still very true in many communities, I do not think that this is being portraited on the evening news and social media. Influential teachers can give at-risk students the encouragement that they need and inspire them to see themselves in a life much different from their current life. Teachers and public schools need to change the narrative by celebrating our students, staff, and communities by posting all the GREAT things that happen every day. In short, teachers must change or risk being replaced. Teachers need to quit making excuses and work to become the leaders that their students need.
This content has been divided into sections, and at the end of each section there are questions that the reader can use to reflect on his or her teaching methods. There are many ways that a teacher can use this book. A person could read it over summer break and choose a few things to try in the upcoming school year. A group of teachers could read it section by section and discuss it like a book study. It could read it one section each day or week and think about how you could use the information to improve your teaching methods. It could use it as a repair manual and when the wheels come off in your classroom and see what you can use it to put them back on. Think of the book as a buffet. Everything is available; take what you want. Use it as you choose, and I truly hope that something that I have written will allow you to do your job better. Your students truly need you to be at your best.
Sections include
Self improvement<br
