Author Description

Naturalist and long-time turkey hunter Jay Langston brings years of hard-won experience gained in the study and pursuit of Melea-gris gallopavo--the extraordinary American wild turkey--to the pages of the Turkey Hunter's Tool Kit. This, the first book in a planned three volume set, is a primer on the use of the "tools of the trade, " and a guide, not only to the practical use of a turkey hunter's gun and load, but to their ethical employment as well. Approximately 2.6 million turkey hunters pursue these elusive birds in the spring or fall in 49 states. The sport of turkey hunting has the second-highest number of participants and is the fastest-growing form of hunting today. Pursuing these wily birds calls for the ultimate in woodcraft, skill and wise use of equipment. Turkey Hunter's Tool Kit provides both the novice and seasoned turkey hunter with a fair measure of technical insight blended with strong anecdotal presentation of experience earned through days spent afield.
