Hannah Henford, travelling west aboard a steamer, meets the reticent young Andrew Stevenson, who captures her heart with his bravery when the boat docks and they embark upon the Oregon Trail. Jeremiah Smith, a mysterious and adventurous mountain man, discovers Hannah alone and takes her in search of wild turkeys. She cannot help but be charmed by Jeremiah, but he may not be all that he seems. In Arapaho territory, Andrew will be needed again: in pursuit of Hannah, he will face peril on the Oregon Trail.
