One of the most beloved of the nineteenth century's academic painters, William Adolphe Bouguereau (French, 1825–1905) received his early training at the Ãcole des Beaux-Arts, Paris (where he later returned to teach), and was influenced by his study of the masters of the Italian Renaissance and the classical art of ancient Greece and Rome. Bouguereau was particularly admired for his portraits, religious scenes, and tender vignettes featuring children. The twelve paintings in this calendar demonstrate his genius for capturing the subtlest nuances of the human form.Size: 12 x 13 in.; opens to 12 x 26 in.
