Product Description Because I believe in the flash of inspiration that can bring forth a poem in an instant, many of my best poems have been left unwritten. I suspect this is true for other poets as well. The moment of inspiration often comes at inconvenient times, when one is waiting in line at the supermarket, or driving at high speed on the expressway, or talking to a friend on the telephone. Sometimes, the insight is so powerful and overwhelming that it is nearly impossible to capture on paper. The mere act of writing dissipates or weakens it. Most of the poems presented here started in such moments of insight and flowed forth easily, spilling onto the page as if under their own power. A few are pristine creations, printed here just as they came to me. Many have been reworked in the light of reason. Only a few have had a long incubation, lurking about and growing slowly in my mind, sometimes for decades, before I found just the right moment and means to bring them to the page. The poems in this volume are written in a language I believe is accessible to everyone. Some readers may find echoes of other poets here.
