This report gives details of the Government's plans for defence expenditure for two years, 20000/2001 and 2001/2002, instead of the normal three. It also includes a short introduction to explain the role of the Armed Forces and set the financial data in context. One of a series of departmental reports (Cm4602-4621), which accompanied by the document 'Public expenditure: statistical analyses 2000/01' (Cm 4601), present the Government's expenditure plans for 2000-01 to 2001-02. The plans were published in summary form in the Budget documentation. The complete set is available at a discount price.
