Author Description

The Economic Policy Roundtable program was designed as a forum for high-level debate among Hungarian decision makers from government, parliament, business associations, academia, the research community, and other elements of the private sector. The program was implemented in 1996-1997 with discussions on banking, informal sector, taxation, conflict of interests, non-profit organizations, mortgage, local governments, small- and medium-sized enterprises, and joining the European Union. This book, the second in the series, presents the papers prepared for the 1997-1999 Roundtable discussions, which more than 400 leading Hungarian decision-makers participated in. Topics of debate included financial services, taxation, corporate law, venture capital, SME competitiveness, public procurement, micro-financing, supply chain development, and contractual rights enforcement.
