This reference is a summary of prices of approximately 31,500 auction sale results of paintings and sculptures, by 13,000 artists from a range of periods, sold at public auction in the United Kingdom during 1996-97. The guide shows for each individual artist: nationality, dates and artist's price index; lowest, median and highest prices of oil paintings, watercolours/drawings and sculptures; and the total value and number of works sold.
