This publication is a companion to the exhibition David-Jeremiah: The Fire This Time, on view at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth from August 16 to November 2, 2025. The exhibition showcases work by multidisciplinary conceptual artist David-Jeremiah from Oak Cliff, Texas, whose practice spans painting, inverted-performance installation, sculpture, photography, text, and mixed media. The Fire This Time features the artist's triptych arrangements of paintings on shaped wood panels that range from black to polychromatic; when installed, they measure over ten feet tall. The instillation continues the artist's evolving narrative around the complications of being a Black man in America, accounting for its joys and traumas, and extending the conversation to explore the complexities of individuality and humanness. The richly-illustrated publication features a curatorial essay by Christopher Blay as well as an excerpt from an online essay by David-Jeremiah.
