This regional index provides an extensive and detailed socio-economic profile of British Columbia on a regional basis. The index groups the province's 30 census divisions into 8 subprovincial regions and divides these into 73 smaller geographic units termed areas for purposes of analysis. The index includes general information for each of the eight regions, followed by specific data on the areas within each region. This in turn is followed by a brief profile of the incorporated municipalities within each area. Subjects covered for the various regions and areas include the general economy, economic sectors such as manufacturing and forestry, tourism, demographics, labor force, school enrolment, and cultural and health facilities. Relevant statistics are included throughout.
