Maternal mortality has barely improved in the last thirty years, in spite of cutting-edge technology and trillions of dollars invested. The global maternal mortality ratio declined by 2.3 percent between 1990 and 2008, and more than a thousand pregnant or recently post-partum women die daily from pregnancy-related complications. Most of these deaths are sadly preventable and this book covers these possible complications with a common-sense approach to managing pregnancy successfully.
