Some students protested the need for the facility during the dedication; others thought it was a wonderful idea; still others had no opinion. Then the rains came. And although the gym itself was not affected, workers were hindered by the standing water, the soggy ground and no sun. Yet, administrators were encouraged: The gym would be one of the few places that would be dry should another great deluge come.
