Text of social security and housing legislation (effective Apr 1983) obliging employers to pay first 8 weeks' statutory sick pay (reimbursable through deductions from their National Insurance contributions), abolishing industrial injury benefits and giving local authorities responsibility for helping low-income groups with rent, rates and supplementary benefits (see SLB 4:82, p.546).
