Aleksandr Markov analyzes 1980 as a year of return of poetics and esthetics to area of political decisions and civil experience. The events of this year are analyzed through the prism the book The Practice of Everyday Life by French author Michel de Certeau (1925-1986). The book examines the ways in which people individualize mass culture, altering things, from utilitarian objects to street plans to rituals, laws and language, in order to make them their own. According to Markov 1980 became the year when any technical invention for everyday life turned into a gadget, economic activity - into innovation, and political decision - into political technology.
