By creating his own archive for a fabricated space mission, artist Nicolas Polli encourages us to re-evaluate our acceptance of photography as scientific evidence. He has been interested in the global phenomenon of "fake news" especially regarding its relationship to photography and how viewers believe something because it is a photograph, even if it goes against common sense and better judgement. With Ferox, he wanted to give people his own reality so that they could evaluate the process of realizing that something is fake, questioning their own filter of criteria for what is real and what isn't, and how this relates to fake news--Taken from interview by Cat Lachowskyj, on http://www.lensculture.com, viewed Nov. 14, 2018.
